OK, I said I would update you after my next trip to the track. Bittersweet. Here was my best pass:

RT .4729 Red
60ft 2.14
330ft 5.77
1/8 ET 8.67
1/8 MPH 83.41

I advanced the timing to about 38-39 total. I got my stall speed up to around 2500 and it felt like it was leaving hard but as you can see by my SLOW 60ft times it didn't help..... I still think the carb is a little lean but other than that I'm at a loss....

Weather was around 50 degrees and the humidity was high.

Any ideas anyone? If you didn't see my last post with my engine combo here's the link last post (http://www.chevelles.com/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=017659)

So, you did the 2ndary spring rate thing?

Is there any bogging off the line? Like a stumbling before it pins you back in the seat?

Does it sit and spin? Enough to hear it, or just enough to see the RPM jump too quickly?

Drive your car on the road and do this: Put it in 2nd gear, going about 20mph, then MASH the gas. It should not hesitate at all, now make note of the where the tach springs up to. It will get to some RPM very quickly before it starts to climb at the rate of acceleration.

At least your MPH is getting better. The first 60' will still affect your MPH some. I can lose up to 3mph in the 1/8th from one pass to the next based on how well I get out of the hole.

Bottom line here: Your making decent power with the mill, now you just have to better use it. Then you can go back to the motor and tweak that some more.

I agree with the others from the first post.

New stall with higher flash(or send yours back and have it re-stalled) and a DP will go far.

I have always had the best times with either leaving just off idle or from an idle.

When is the mechanical advance all in at?

I really don't know if this will work for your combo. When I dynoed my motor it made a 10 horse power gain by running the timing at 32 degrees.

Also what air pressure do you have your slicks at. In the cold weather they could be lossing pressure, just like in the hot weather they gain pressure. I always check mine when my lane is pulling into the water box.

My car ET's better when I launch at 1500 rpm and the converter stall speed is 3500-3800. I've been told if you foot break to high your suspension loads it's self and your 60 footers and 1320 times drop. Do like the other guy said and start playing with your launch RPM. Try leaving at ldle or slightly above it.

Good Luck

Thanks guys! When driving 20 (in Low) and I jump on it, it does jump up to at least 4k immediately. Maybe leaving off idle or near is what I need to do.... graemlins/thumbsup.gif I didn't get a chance to change the spring, I had kid duty most of the week. My spark plugs had little gray tips on the electrode part (not the curved wire) so does that mean I've been lean? The plugs had less than a few hundred miles on them. Slicks were at about 10-11 psi and they were holding good. The converter definitely WASN'T flashing after loading it to 2500 at the line. I'm looking for a DP now. Thanks again for the input guys! graemlins/beers.gif

Lean and lots of advance arent a good thing, just keep that in mind.

Maybe you can't do this with a normal automatic.

You didn't change the springs... graemlins/angry.gif

BB_Mike, I know I know... graemlins/clonk.gif Consider it done.

Also, too much total advance in my book.
I would pull the timing back to 36 total.Set the distributor up for 20 degrees initial and 34-36 total.
