Well.

Seems with engine projects, for me at least, it's one step forward.....2 or more steps back.

I bought an Innovate AF meter....thank you Mike Lewis (Wolfplace). I need to carefully read the manual and put the software on my computer....and get my kids laptop fixed so we can tune in the car. We will also use it on the dyno so we can have an accurate baseline. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.

We bought a custom Comp Cams solid roller with the extreme energy lobes. It is 260/266 .666/.677 and 110 LSA. On a billet core. I'll be running the Comp polymer distributor gear.

We also sent the 1050 list 9375-1 Dominator carb to Quick Fuel Technology where it will get new metering blocks (front PV), new boosters and re-machined venturi. They say it will work dandy on the street and way better at the track. I just wasn't willing to start hacking the thing on my own with the chance of ruining it.

The Innovate will help me dial it in once the engine is off the dyno.

I was going to also dyno the 950HP on the World Products intake, but I won't do that unless we have the time. I doubt we will. I will likely have to sell that setup, I'm running out of money.

Not sure now when dyno day will be......I'm more than 3 months behind schedule as it is. But the car will be done in time for the race season here in Oregon...which sometimes doesn't get under way till April....or later. At least by then the oxygenated crap fuel will be gone. I hope.

I fully expect to break the 12 bolt..........

Hi Ron,
glad it got there so quick.
You might load the CD to your hard drive as there is another 30 page or so manual along with a bunch of stuff once you install it.
Also go here & check out the forum & check back once in a while as they have downloadable software updates for free. Innovate (http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/index.html)

Thanks again for letting us help,, graemlins/beers.gif

I would do some more checking on that polymer gear. I've heard of several failures with wet sump systems, too much load on the gear. I always get my billet cores with a cast gear and then call Mike for a re-sized GM melonized gear to fit your distributor.

Every time I try something new, like the polymer gear, someone tells me it will fail.
Well, if it does, I'll have plastic in my engine, not metal. I run a std volume pump and it won't load the crap out of the gear.
If it fails, I'll make Comp build me a new cam.
I personally have heard nothing bad about the gear. Until now.

Mike, I downloaded the big manual from the web last week and have been reading it.

I'll be sure and tune into the Innovate forum to learn more. I need to know more about it's other data logging features. I'd like to compare driveshaft RPM to engine RPM so I can see when the car spins. And learn more about the converter stall etc.
The unit is very light....my guess is that it contains a small amount of electronics with a lot of software to run it! I work in the high tech electronics industry, and that is the way things are today.
As long as it works! Everything I've read says it's a sweet deal. Thanks again.

I have only tried one & after about 200 miles it didn't look too pure :(
This was not a real fair test though as this cam had eaten an MSD gear previously so it wasn't exactly in perfect condition.
I think I will let you be the test dummy on this one :D
Be sure to let everyone know how it fares down the road a few thousand miles, I know I am still in the information gathering mode on this deal ;)
