I was setting up my starter with my new motor, and to avoid wiping the cam none of the valves are adjusted, I.E. not pushrods etc. THe motor cranks over real slow and takes a second to catch up. I think it is because all the spark plugs are in and all of the valves are closed. I figure that most of the time about half of the exhaust valves, or intake valves will be opened relieving the compression on some of the cylinders, i suppose i have full 11-1 compression on ALL of the cylinders making the starter(powermaster ultratorque 250 ibls) work really hard. Whadaythink?

You are lucky it turns over at all with the plugs in & pushrods out :D

cool, so my theory is correct. Damn im smart smile.gif I guess thats a pretty good starter i got there! running 1/0 guage with an optima blue top and that powermaster starter. LEt me tell you I will nEver buy a nippodenso style starter again, i don't see how that thing clears any headers, doesnt' fit on my 2" header BBC or my friends 1 3/4 SBC. The hitachi style clears great!
