Well the assembly of my car has reached a stand still. Its raining outside today and I have no idea of the status of some GM replacement parts I am trying to obtain to replace the junk ill fitting foreign crap (disc brake kit). Then it will be blasting, painting, plating and so forth (more waiting). So I was thinking maybe its time to run my engine again since its been months since its run stand debut. I'm hoping hearing it again thru full exhaust and between the frame rails will boost my spirits and get my head back in the game. I've replaced my factory engine harness with one made for a HEI instead of modifying the original. Will I have power to the required things (ignition switch and HEI) without installing my horn/headlight/alternator harness? I had a custom line made to recirculate my transmission fluid (auto) because the front clip is still removed and no radiator installed. I plan to add some fluid to it as well before and during its initial run up after overhaul to check for any leaks and fill the converter. Anything else I might be forgetting? Or should I go just go hunting or fishing and leave it sit and wait?

I know the feeling. I've got a whole weekend since the axles didn't come in on friday. Hang in their but I see where your excitment is coming from. The motor looks good and it'll be sweet when you get it back together.

Hang in there, Bill.
Couple things. First, that is one beautiful Chevelle you've got there. Second, that is an awesome engine stand/station.
What keeps me going sometimes when I'm lacking motivation, is listening to my engine also. However, I don't start it at all. I don't want to mess with the break-in by running it without a load on. So, I listen to and watch the video I have of it. See my link in my sig.
You may want to make a quick video of yours running, so you too, can listen to it's rumble, without putting unneccesary time on the engine. I just used our cheap digital camera for the video.
If my Chevelle looked half as nice as yours, I'd be a demon to get it back together and take it out for a rip. Go on, get out there and turn a wrench on it. You'll feel better. You got all weekend to get something done.
Good luck.

Thanks so much for the more than kind words about the ole heap. I guess I just got in a rut with the loss of my best friend to cancer. Then to finding out his brother and now my brother also have cancer. Then taking a couple steps backward in my build didn't help. Had good progress for a bit then the seat fiasco hit...Having removed my front cover and shipping out to be used as a pattern back in early December only to find out it wasn't totally original and to date no one can locate one. They were nice enough to send my the correct rear cover and door panels which I haven't even opened. Then the brake issue which meant all the progress I had made on it was all in vain and will end up in the scrap pile due to poor fit. Hearing the engine come to life months ago did give me a huge boost and really helped get me back on track. Living alone and no other gear heads local makes even the simplest jobs take a lot longer. Well with your kind words it has brought a smile to my face and for that I am truly great full. I did manage to box a lot of stuff up today and straighten up the garage. Again thanks TC/John/Phil you have helped more than you will ever know.
John I just watched your vid and loved it....The roar of that beast and your smile have pushed the button.....It's gonna run again this weekend.....

You are most welcome, sir.
You've certainly had a real tough streak of luck. All the best to your friend and your brother.
If you get lonely, or bored, there is usually some light hearted banter every night on the TC Chat forum. If you haven't used it, it's a tab you click on at top of this page between calendar and new posts. It will open a new window, and you can then shoot the breeze with a room full of good ol' boys and girls.
It sounds to me that you'd like it. Maybe we'll catch you on there one of these nights.
Till then, make some noise, scare the neighbors, have a good laugh.
