My uncle wants me to install a supercharger on his 97 LT1 Camaro. I have done some looking and several companies offer blowers that will work. Vortech, Powerdyne, ATI/Procharger. Any opinions or experience with any of these.
Pretty cool that a 60 yr. old man wants a blown ride huh?
Right now his Camaro has a power chip, 6 speed, 4.10 gears, flowmasters and cold air intake. He wants to go to the next level and I offered to do the work for him. Let me have your thoughts....
Thanks in advance,
Troy.

stick with either vortech or ati. Vortech requires you to tap the oil pan for oil, ati is a self oiling unit. Both have their good and bad points.
http://www.ls2.com read their forced induction forum since many of the ls1 and lt1 guys use the same forced induction.

I have no experiance with blowers, but I'd definatly go with ProCharger! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I'm very happy with the Vortech on my 5.0. Yes, I had to tap the pan for the oiling system, but as I see it, then the blower is getting constant oil circulation same as the motor.

The fastest centrifugal cars out there usually run ATI/Procharger. ATI is more of a leader in the industry with everyone else following. They were the first to use Air to Air intercoolers, also one of the first to have self contained units. Vortec would be my second choice.

Do the work very well, and take really good care of the old duffer. That car is gonna be yours one day.

Nah - I'll never end up with it. He has a young wife about my age(40) and some teenage kids. It will be fun to take to the track a few times when it's done though. Maybe he'll buy me some parts for my Chevelle - I can always use some more parts.
