what runner size are the heads? sounds like at least 215's with those flow numbers. IMO, you need at least 4.10 gears and at least a 4000 conv or it's going to be soggy on the bottomend. also i would think it would like 36-38deg timing unless it's an alcohol motor. carb is probably too big as well as the header tube size although that won't hurt you near as bad as the convertor and gears.

Correct, 215cc runners. I usually run a 50/50 mix of 110 and 93 octane (101). I would like to be able to run on pure 93 octane. I'm trying to find out if it's possible. I have talked to Demon and they somewhat recommend a 750 carb. I am considering a 3200+ stall and definatly a 4.10 gear. Thanks m71!! Where are you at in Indiana?

if you have a true 11 to 1 ratio with aluminum heads and that much cam, i think 93 octane will be ok. my 406 is 11.5 to 1 with the same heads you have and a smaller cam i have no problems running on 93 octane from Amoco. btw, i'm from the Bloomington area. where do you race? Muncie?

Yes, I race at Muncie. I have raced there 1 time. I have heard that aluminum heads are a little more forgiving on detonation or knock.

Muncie is a good track, i was just there a couple weeks ago to watch the OSCA streetcar shootout. long drive for me though, about 2 1/2 hrs.

Is this the 510 hp motor that runs 12.96 @ 106?

I used to have this same combo in my 69 Camaro except I had Bowtie phase2 heads and a Bowtie Vic jr. and a 750 carb and a Comp. 285/295 250/260 106 532/555. I ran a 4.11 and 28x11.5 et streets and 255/60r15 on reg. duty then I switched to a 4.56 and made a world of difference in drivabilty and performance. You see before the car was lugging the lbs. That 4.56 woke it up. :D made it easier to drive also (kept conv.locked up) 10inch 3500 Fairbanks. Never made it to the track but built to Novas for my friends with same combo w/ Dart heads and flat tops went 11.60's w/o tuning and 4500 conv. graemlins/beers.gif

onovakind67, yes this is the motor that ran 12.95 @106mph. I plan on doing a lot more tweaking before I take it to the track again next year. I was shooting for 12.9 on my first time out and that's what I ran, so next year I am shooting for 11.9's!! Thanks guys!!!
