I am having problems with my 408 BBC running out of fuel above 5600 RPM (I only want to spin it to 6K). I have changed the metering rods and jets (Edelbrock 1407 750 cfm carb) and the problem remains. Edelbrock said that the sintered bronze filter element could be responsible for the problem. Any thoughts?

I am running a Comp. XE274 through an Air-gap intake, 3.73 gears, TH-400, 140 gph electric pump, 90 gph Fram canister filter between cell and pump, -8 AN steel braided fuel line, sintered bronze filter at the carb. in a '66 Malibu.

Would never run one in any mild performance app. Remove it and see.

427L88,Thanks for the reply. I have done that and am planning a trip to the strip tomorrow. I just wanted to get some ideas of what else, if anything, in my combo. could be causing the problem so that I can be prepared to address it at test and tune. Any other input from anyone? Thanks.
