Yo, Jake! You may not have seen all the blah, blah, blah, but I've bought a new GM 572/720 - just gotta wait for delivery. It's going to go in the 67 Chevelle. The existing 434 sbc is going on ebay and the th350 you built for me will go in the new project - 67 Nova - same color as the Chevelle (his and hers...awww, ain't that sweet...). I'm going to enlist the services of Mike Lewis for a thumpin reliable sbc for the Nova - he already suggested a Brodix block for starters - I am soooo stoked.

Anyway, what should I put behind the 572 beast? Another 350 tricked out or a 400 or a powerglide? The car will have mini-tubs and a 4-link, but I want it to be streetable, too. What do you think (besides the fact that, like everyone else says, I'm a bonehead for laying down $13K for the GM 572)?

Best,

Mike H.

I wouldn't use a TH350 behind the 572.
A TH400 would work if built up properly, as well as a good Glide,

For a "street" car I would think the 3 speed would be the weapon of choice but in an all out drag setup, the Glide may work better depending on car weight.

Hmm,
Lenco ;)

Can you build me a 400 for this beast? Is a Lenco "streetable" if I'm real, real patient?

Mike, you still buying that piece of crap 572? I thought I talked you out of that....just kidding good luck and have fun with it.

In regards to the Lenco I thought very seriously about running one in my Backhalved 69 Vette. I did a lot of research on it and found they make a street tranny, the ST1200. It can be done in a 4 or 5 speed and is good for 1200 hp. It is set up to be a street / strip tranny. Go to Lencoracing.com and check it out, very sweet.

Yeah, I'm gonna use and abuse it - then tell all. I like the Lenco idea and have heard about street app's. I'll call 'em up.

I've got 4 cars to build anyway, so who knows what the future holds? Gotta build one for each of my kids (they actively participate), the Chevelle will probably stay mine, and then we gotta build a Nova or Malibu wagon for Mom - she's finally realized she's surrounded - no use resisting.

Thanks for the lead on Lenco.

Best,

Mike H.
