Does anyone have or used Richmond Gears Powertrax locker unit? Just wondering on its quality, strength, etc. Like the idea of not having to remove the ring and pinion to install Thanks, Don

I haven't used one yet, but I asked the same question a while back and everyone seemed to like them. I don't remember who it was, but someone told me that if your rear end is worn decently the locker might not work properly. I'm not sure what your situation is, but it might be something worth asking about to get some clarification on.

I've been running a Powertrax for 3 years in a 2.73 geared 12 bolt..gets beat up at the track a few times a year, and regularly on the street, and no problems..and I bought it used!
..and I just installed one in my friends 69 SS w/a 3.07 geared 12 bolt open rear..and they only cost $200 now too! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

mc71454 - good thread. Seems i'm not the only one looking to do this. What would you recommend using for a open 10 bolt (not sure what size yet) 3.08? It'll be behind a 327 putting out around 400hp and a rebuilt turbo 350 w/ b&m shift kit. I'm not concerned with the rather large gears for now, but just want to make it posi so I can get some better 60' times.

well that's a tough call on which to use. You would probably be fine with the Lock Right, but for long term the No-Slip would likely be the best bet especially when you end up stepping it up.

This opinion is just based on the info from the manufacturer. and from my bud who runs mid 13's in a 4k car with a 350 using the No-Slip.

Now if Richmond would put their Reputation and confidence in their product To Real World Objective testing ....I would happily test their (Donated) No-Slip in my Monte for one season and we would see what it is really made of. If it holds Up I will buy it.

Many can be witness of how long I have Run the DISCONTINUED Performance Locker..boy that burns me up  Gee, take something that works VERY WELL and Let's Get Rid Of It graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/clonk.gif

yeah it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to discontinue something that works great. Are these lockers really as easy to install as they advertise them to be?

Yeah,

It is pretty easy, EXCEPT when you try to put the C-clips back in. Have a nice selection of magnets and flat screwdrivers available to slip those clips back in.

I can take mine in and out in 10 minutes, but I don't have any c-clips to put back in anymore.

Hey guys, I just broke a no-slip but I think it was a fluke. They are going to warranty it so thats cool. It worked flawlessly and as advertised for about 3 months then gave up as the car was hooking after a burnout. It tore up some of the gears inside ouch.
Just an fyi
