I am restoring a 67 Chevelle Malibu and want to know if I should swap out the original coil springs with something more 'robust'. I'm concerned that the back end will sag or sit to low if I have passengers in the back seat.

What do you mean by "robust?" Stock springs sag over time, but there are a number of replacement springs that should work fine. Some people run air bags in the back of the wagons, but for most applications just good springs and shocks should be all you need.

thanks for your response. I was wondering if I should replace the old springs with cargo springs from a truck or station wagon

It really depends on what you want to do. If the stock ride and handeling met your needs, put stock replacement springs back in it. No need for anything exotic. You want better handeling, lower stance of plan on hauling hundreds of pounds of cement on a regular basis, go with stiffer aftermarket springs. Keep in mind if you go with stiffer springs you will need better shocks. Stock shocks won't be able to dampen stiffer springs. Thats my dilema right now, I am going with stiffer springs but trying to decide on shocks is holding me up.
