Just got my belts yesterday and my power steering belt is rubbing against the back of my pulley on my water pump (70 Chevelle 402). I have a long style water pump. I purchased the stock GM brackets to hold the power steering pump and stock size pulleys. The belt just rubs at the lower part of the pulley on the water pump. If it was down a 1/4" of an inch I would be ok. Also It looks like I need a spacer between the upper bracket and the water pump to tighten the belt tension bolt down on the power steering pump. The assembly manual looks like the bracket should go against the water pump. Something just doesn't seem correct, but I have not been able to put my finger on it. Got any idea's?
