Hey guys, I'm trying to put together my very first engine and I figured you guys could give me some input or comments on the parts combination.

I intend to run mostly on the street. I intend on using my current TH350 trans w/ 2400 stall until I can find either a TH 400 or a good 4 speed manual transmission.

454 30 over MK IV Block
118cc Heads casting #14092360 (Ported and Polished, 3 angle valve job,Comp Cams Magnum 1.72 rr)
Keith Black .250 Pop Top Pistons (10.2:1 CR with 118cc heads) with Gapless TotalSeal rings
Comp Magnum Muscle Solid lifter cam (280/285 adv dur,242/250 dur @ .050, .575 intake and .604 exhaust lift, 110 LSA)
Edelbrock RPM Air Gap Intake Manifold
Hedman headers with 1 5/8 tubes

I was wondering if this sounds like an alright combo ? Especially since these heads are the small oval type off an 87 truck, but they are ported on the openings to match a regular oval gasket and intake manifold. Any ideas as to what my HP and torque would be?? Any comments are appreciated....Thanks guys

1 5/8" headers??? smallblock headers on a big block? and peanut port heads...might ought to rethink that part of it. 1.75" headers, and I'd get some large oval port heads.

The heads that you have, are they large ovals or are they the peanut port type?

According to the MorTec website they are listed as 86-88 truck heads. If that is the case, they be abit "small" for a 454 with that cam. IMO, those heads (on a 454) would be done by 5500rpm and the cam looks like it would make power to 6300-6500.

They would probably make killer torque down low and in the midrange, but would limit higher rpm power.

They're the small peanut port type :( I guess I should go with a better set of heads then and some 2 inch headers. If I do that, what do you guys think of this combo? I want something that will be awesome on the street and fun on the strip. I've read every single article I can find but I just figured that you guys could give me some better input since most members have hands-on experience with this kind of stuff.

If I make those changes does anyone have any guesses as to what my HP and torque would be?
