Found a '69 that is being parted out that still has the radio. Are these the same as a 70?

In a word, no. The 69 radio is physically larger and will not fit in the dash of a 70. I tried it a long time ago.

I have been looking for an AM for my car, even a non-working dummy, just for looks. The real stereo is hidden. A non working AM went for $68.00 last night on EBay.

I bought 5 chevelle radios searching for a good one. They were advertised as 69-70 A.M. radios. Turned out 2 were for 1970 A body cars, 3 for 69's. The service model# starts with 9 for 69, as in 91APB2. The 70's service model# is 01APB2. Only difference I can tell between them is the rear wiring connector is very different. Otherwise no diff.

A '69 am radio fit perfect in my 70ss. It looks exactly the same once installed, only difference is the wire harness connection.

Theres no telling how many working AM radios me and my friends pitched in the trash when a stereo was added. Should have saved them all. :(
