Well, as you know I took the car to the track Friday to test for the heads up race yesterday. At my track they came up with this idea for street cars to race on a pro tree in a heads up style race. There are six classes and yesterday we had something like 60 or so cars running, while the brackets were running at the same time. Anyways with my times I was on the brink of being the fastest car in kwik street or the slowest car in Hot Street. Wouldn't you know I ended up in Hot Street. It was a blast and the car ran even better with two new bests in one day, so here are some more times.

1st Qualifying Run

R/T .351
60 1.608
330 4.784
1/8 7.493
MPH 90.16
1000 9.858
1/4 11.870
MPH 111.94

13.5 lbs in slicks, 36 in front tires, 36 total timing, leaving off an idle, shifted at 5500

R/T .394
60 1.627
330 4.816
1/8 7.531
MPH 89.96
1000 9.901
1/4 11.914
MPH 111.85

Lowered Air pressure in slicks to 12.5 cold, 36 total timing, again idle launch (1000 rpm)

R/T .353
60 1.639
330 4.824
1/8 7.540
MPH 89.88
1000 9.909
1/4 11.926
MPH 112

12.5 cold in slicks, everything else the same

1st and only elimination run

R/T .352
60 1.618
330 4.775
1/8 7.461
MPH 90.89
1000 9.802
1/4 11.795
MPH 113.23

Raised air pressure in slicks to 14 lbs cold, 42 lbs in front tires, everything else the same.

In the elimination run they paired me with who is usually the number 1 qualifier in my class graemlins/clonk.gif I thought for sure I was going to get beat. He got the holeshot with a 2.52 against my .352, and ran an 11.80 with my 11.79. Close race at the end of the track, oh well I'll get him next time. It's hard to get a light on a pro-tree. Well, just thought I'd post these results to for some feedback.

is your reaction time at that track displayed as .000 being perfect? I tried that heads up stuff one time, our track is .500 perfect and the best I could do was .632... it is tough to cut a good light without deep staging with a street car on a pro tree, and our tracks here do not allow deep staging.

What were your Shift points? Yesterday I had the shift light set at 5500, and on the 11.79 pass the recall said 5600, so it never went higher than that. I'm going to put a 6400 chip in it to see how it likes 6000-6200, if it picks up I'll leave it, if it doesn't and I don't have to turn the motor that tight I won't. We'll see the next Heads up race is July 10, and Super Chevy Sunday July 11.

Robert, yes the protree is impossible to cut a light on!

Pro tree can be tough. I just brought my car to the track for the first time last weekend, and my first two runs were with a pro tree. That really caught me by surprise because the cars before me had a regular tree but for some reason, i ended up getting a pro tree. that really catches you by surprise. As soon as you see it, it turns green and the other guy is gone. lol
