So after months and way to much money that I shouldn't have spent I
coverted my 72 to a 4 speed.Since completion I've have to adjust the clutch
twice. It has a new flywheel and of course the clutch is new and after driving
the car around town for a bit the clutch needs adjustment again cause it
starts to grab even though I got the clutch pedal pushed all the way in, so now I have to adjust it for a 3rd time and I thought it would be normal cuz everything is new but I dont have much adjustment left on the screw..this normal?? any advice or help would be great.

I converted mine as well and while it seems strange, I have my pushrod adjusted all the way out as well. Just adjust it so that the throwout bearing just almost touches the clutch fingers. You dont want it touching all the time.

Matty,
You should adjust the clutch so that you have two inches of free play.
Meaning you can push the clutch pedal down 2 inches before you feel any resistance. Use your hand to do this its hard to tell with your foot.
The pedal will be all the way up, there is a spring that keeps it up all the way. After you push the pedal down it should go two inches before you feel it start to disengage the clutch. Isnt there a couple of different TO bearings choices . Meaning the right or wrong one. If you are out of play you might have to make a longer adjustment rod.
Are we talking about Tremec TKO tranys.
I bought one but I have not compleated the frame off yet.
Brett you have a TKO Right ? Did you use a stock bell housing or a scatter shield with an adjustabal (SP) Ball stud?
Does that make sense?

I just installed the Tremec in mine, with a Centerforce II pressure plate, disc and bearing. Everything else is stock 1972 GM. No problems.

I do have a tremec, scattershield, adjustable throw out bearing, and adjustable ball pivot. That is probably why my pushrod needs to be as long as possible. Regardless of setup though, you want the throwout bearing to be about an 1/8" away from the clutch fingers. If the clutch engages to high up on the pedal now, you can adjust it further away.

PS: I think hes running an M-20, but like I said, doesnt matter much. Clutch adjustment is still the same rules. :beers:
