I'm having trouble finding rear shocks for my truck,'76 Chevy. Not enough info,compressed/extended measurements, on Summit and Jegs websites to make a selection. The center to center on the shock mounts is 12" with the truck sitting. It is eyelet/eyelet mounts.I'm still looking and may go to the parts store and pull some off the shelf to see if I can find something that will work.
Any ideas on where I can get info/help on this?

Jon my buddy just went thru this with his 78. His choices were to buy some high $$ shocks from someone like Bel Tech or make the stock length work. He extended the lower mount on the axle to match the distance he had at stock ride hieght. Then just used the stock length that were a lot cheaper than the special ones. He did use a shorter shock on the front, but they were a stock item from Napa. I can get the part number from him if you want it.

I think I found some that will work, for the time being at least. The flip kit is DJM,that's one of the places that I'm waiting to hear back from. The kit cam with shock extenders, kind of hokey how they were designed to mount.Anyway, those are now the lower shock mounts, welded to the axle. The originals from the axle were cut off and used them for the upper mounts on a crossmember.I might do a cantilever set up If the shock deal doesn't work out,I'd be able to have more shock travel also, that way.
Another oddball thing I ran into was the yoke/u-joint.My 12 bolt and this one have different yokes, mine had the heavy duty brakes, this one light duty, but a larger yoke.No conversion yoke to fit it,previous owner never found one for it either, they added washers to it.For now I've done the same, put a tack on them just in case.
It sure rides a lot better after a test drive, and the 700 is much happier with the 3.73s than the 3.08s. :D
Thanks for the replies.

Jon, that u joint setup doesn't sound safe at all. Try internet search using "conversion u joints" or "custom driveshafts". I'm certain you'll find what you need. Of course you'll need to measure your current yokes to determine what you need, i.e. 1310 to 1330 or 1330 to 1350 etc, etc, etc. They come in all flavors. Driveshaftspecialist.com has a nice u joint id chart. Hope this helps.

I don't like it either, supposedly they put a bunch of miles on it that way.I'm leaning towards putting the correct yoke on it.I thought about doing it before but didn't want to mess with the bearing preload on the pinion gear and didn't think finding the u-joint would be a problem at the time.I thought maybe the conversion u-joint from my Chevelle would work, but the caps were too large and the body was too wide.
