Okay all, I've been lurking for a few years and have posted a few times. I am amazed the knowledge that many of you have, I wish a site like this existed when I was a kid. I am about to rebuild the 427 in my '72 Chevelle here is some back ground:

That car is basically a restification it's a 427 with 990 heads a turbo 400 with a 3,000 stall and 4:88's. I will be changing the rear end gears to something in the order of 4:10's-4:30's.

The short block was a brand new L-88 crate motor that was never run. The short block has all off the good pieces that Chevy made at the time, 4 bolt block, forged crank, 7/16 rods, 12.25 to pistons etc...At the time that I purchased it had sat for 5 years and then another about another 3years until I got around to building it. By this time a few of the cylinder walls had rusted a bit and I was advised by my machinist to go .030 over. The pistons were replaced with Speed Pro L2308AF30. The cam is a Crane Blue print L-88 cam. The current rebuild will be for a street/strip, cruise night car that has a lot of get up and go.

Here are a few questions to start with:
1. When I purchased the pistons for the first build they were supposed to yield 12.25 to 1 CR yet when I run the part number on Speed Pro website it now tells me the CR is 11.39 with 119cc heads? At this point I'd like to lower the compression to about 10.5 to 1. Am I better off purchasing new pistons or having my current pistons milled?
2. What brand of rod and main bearings would you suggest?
3. What brand and type of rings would you suggest?
4. I was planning on using ARP Wave lock pro rod bolts thoughts?
5. I am planning on running a Melling M-77 oil pump, your thoughts on this?
6. I was considering running Lunati/UD 402A6, again your thoughts?

Sorry, for the length of this post but I am really looking forward to the input from this group.
