Anyone have any experience with the Holley 144 powercharger? I'd like to boost my overall power without sending my rebuilt 350 into cardiac arrest. I'm planning on getting a crate 350 soon, and i'd like to supercharge it. My options are fairly limited from what i've found around the internet, and i'd like to stick to a single carb setup if possible. Any help would be much appreciated.

We put one on my buddy's '86 Monte Carlo SS about 10 years ago... It was an afternoon bolt on. With no other changes to his stock 305, the car went 12.5 with no ill effects. (We may have put a 750 Holley on it... I can't remember.)

I think the 144/177 series superchargers are great additions to basic/mild street motors. You can put it on in one afternoon, they make great low end/midrange power and you can basically bolt them onto to anything from a stock block to a more serious set up and have great results.

Not sure what your goals are but as long as you keep the compression down below 9.5 should be able to run the 4-6 lbs of boost on pump gas and keep it as a daily driver. Just be sure to jet the carb up a few sizes and back the timing down to around 25-28 deg total until you get it dialed in.

I first bolted my B&M 144 (all made by Holley now) onto a chevy target motor that had stock 993 1.94/1.5 heads, cast flat top pistons (9.0 to 1 comp), an edelbrock torker II cam, a holley 700 db and headers. It went 12.7 with very little tuning and pure street tires.

I have since put the same supercharger on a more stout 383 with great results (see sig for details). Although forged pistons, supercharger specific carb and a timing retard set up is desired they are not mandatory for a street set-up and I would consider it a nice addition to a low compression crate motor.
