: Where is my NSS? 66 Chevelle
badtomatoes Jan 19th, 08, 8:18 PM I have a 66 Chevelle with PG automatic/floor shifter. Went to crank it this morning and had nothing- no click or anything. All other electrical components are still getting power. I suspect the NSS is goofy but I'm not sure where to find it. I was going to bypass it temporarily to see if it would start.
Can't wait to get my hands on a FSM!
Thanks!

:confused:i would look on the steering column by (inside) the firewall for the switch, i've bypassed them by unplugging them and using a jumper wire with spade terminals.
by the way WTH is a FSM:confused:
:mad:sorry my reading, missed the floor shifter :o
badtomatoes Jan 20th, 08, 9:17 AM FSM= factory service manual.
MalibuSeaS Jan 20th, 08, 9:21 AM NSS= Neutral Safety Switch ;)
sassy 67 Jan 20th, 08, 9:39 AM On our 67 Chevelle original 283, PG, Floor/Shift with console the NSW is under the floor console. I had the same problem for a while and kept looking for a PG floor shift NSW and could not find one. It was just a something thing, then I took the time and removed the console and cleaned the connections and I have had no trouble since then. I did find a new NSW on Ebay and got it but I have not had to use it. The area on top of the transmission collects a lot dust and dirt.
hope this helps. by the way if you remove the switch watch how it's bolted on for certain clearences.

Very good information. I'll see if cleaning the contacts does any good. I really don't want to spend the dough on a new switch because I think a TH350 or 700R4 will take the place of the PG very soon.
Thanks again!
