I am currently running a CC294S solid flat tappet in my 496. Was considering going with one of these XE solid rollers. Car has 10.5cr. stock valve size 049 heads, the muncie M-20 trans and 3.08 rear are history. Car ran 12.30's with old setup. Want to go to a TH400 and 3.73's. I am considering going to larger valves and a pocket port on the 049's. Anyone using one of these Comp Cams XE solid rollers? Thanks. graemlins/beers.gif

Do the heads before you do the cam IMO. Your engine wont benifit all that much with a big cam if your heads max out at .550 lift. Stock 049s would only hold back a high lift solid roller.

I have run the XR286R-10 XE street roller in the past. I'm now running the same grind in a custom version with the LSA tightened to 107 and ground on a billet core.

Those cams make good power and torque.

I run a custom version using the XE solid lobes
274/286 113 lsa installed at 108. SCR 10.2.
Performs well with excellent "street" manners.

I run the XR280R, You'll pick up about 50lb torque and 50HP going to the solid roller vs solid flat tappet, Even with less duration.
I wouldn't go over the 280R with 10.5 compression and 3:73 gear.

You're 049 heads will be fine. If you have them worked on, a good valve job and 2.19/1.88 valves are all that is needed.
