Hello,
I need some help and hoping someone can help me out. Sorry If It's lenghty but I have a few questions. First I did the test with the test light on the negative and pos. cable and the light never lit up by pulling the fuses out. Then I checked the left side of the fuse block w/key off all light, pass no light. Then w/key on checked both sides lights on except for Dir. Sig. wierd. I went and checked other parts in the eng. came back and checked again and they all lit up don't know why. I noticed my dome light has power all the time is this correct? Right now I don't have the D/door jam switch in 2 prong style, and my console harness hook yet it is just jumped to start it. My idiot lights use to come on with key on but now don't along with my D/blinker and F/turn signal evrything else seems to work. I checked the bulbs and they are good. Sorry for so long but I want to explain all the problems I am having. Any Help Please because something is slow draining my battery.

Thanks Scott PS 69 Chevelle, Alt & Bat putting out about 14.7V.

What you want to do is disconnect the battery, + or - only one, and hook test light between battery cable and battery post. If the light doesn't light you're all done. Pulling fuses won't make it light, you pull fuses to see if it goes out if it's already on.

Sounds like you don't have a drain, I assume everything else was hooked up except one battery cable and all fuses installed. The dome light has power all the time? You mean it has power when the key is off? That's correct, it should go on when you open the door, key or no key in ignition. If you mean the light is on all the time that's wrong. The door switch controls when the light goes on.

Finally,
I did one at a time and the light didn't light but seems after a few days of sitting it drains my battery. I followed steps from here to check. What could caus my oil, w/t light to not come on with the key on? Also seems like my Gen is charging because of the volts but stays on. Any idea why my blinker doesn't light up on d/side but clicks, I know the bulb is good because if I touch it with a ground wire is lights. Thanks for your help.

Scott Dome light not on just with a test light its on.

Well it sounds like you don't have a drain. You could always leave the battery cable disconnected for a few days and check it. Maybe it's just the battery going bad. If they have a small short between the plates inside they'll work fine if they're recharged everyday but will eventually drain down if not used.

Some of the front bulbs get grd through the light housing. If it's not getting a good connection the light won't work. Connect your test light to the front turn indicator light connector and to grd. See if the test light will work.

How did you do the test? Should have been.... disconnect pos battery cable, connect a test light between battery pos and disconnected battery pos cable. (make sure cable does not touch ground)

Can't be sure but if I understand what you've said you're not getting ground to the front bulbs.

Hank,
The P/S works fine the D/S has power to the brown wires when the headlights are on and nothing at the blue wire, the P/S light blinks on the blue wire.
