: Can someone host a long video for me?
Motor Martyr Jul 5th, 04, 6:19 PM I have a digital video of a drive in the Car, not the first drive, but the 3rd or 4th.
It's a cool video but roughly 67.1 MB, so about 4 minutes long.
70_FathomBlueMalibu Jul 5th, 04, 8:20 PM I wanna see this. I figure my crappy computer won't be able to run it tho. graemlins/sad.gif
SO, how does it feel on those initial shakedown runs, Brian? graemlins/beers.gif
Have any issues crept up that need some sorting out?
Motor Martyr Jul 5th, 04, 8:33 PM shakedown runs? i was videotaped while cruising around the neighborhood, its a cool video. you'll like it, its inside the car, and i'm just kinda cruising around.
I dont want to put a date on the shakedown runs just yet, i have alot left to do.
Building a driveshaft loop now, i'm doing a series of pictures on that project.
Earlier i brought it out to a somewhat barren road and got into it for a little.....whoa! I want to save the going fast for the race track though.
I need to make up a sign that says "dont do it" and stick it to my dash :D
I've driven some quick cars before, but man o man, nothing like this.
MadMarv Jul 5th, 04, 8:54 PM Brian why is the file so large? What type of compression are you using?
My website only gets 5000mb of transfer a month, which is nowhere near enough to host that file. I wouldn't mind hosting it but it would have to be alot smaller. I played with 3m 16sec of raw DV and when I compressed it into mp4 I got it down to 2.7mb. Its pretty grainy but it retains very good sound quality for the size.
If I could get it to like 3mb, I could host it and just pull the plug on it when it draws ~4000mb of transfer.
??
Matt
70_FathomBlueMalibu Jul 5th, 04, 10:04 PM Brian, I thought everyone made their shakedown runs BEFORE they got to the track. :D ;)
travis g Jul 5th, 04, 11:49 PM Brian, how do you like that cam? How is the idle quality and idle vac? You went with the crower 242/248@.050 solid on a 108 right? I think my engine is very similar to yours, and am thinking of dropping in a slightly smaller, tighter lsa solid ft to make life even more interesting. I know how you feel...I haven't driven anything this powerful in many years. Got to make sure your pointed the right direction when you punch it, 'cause things happen fast :D
Motor Martyr Jul 5th, 04, 11:59 PM i'll see what i can do about compressing it, i dont claim to know too much about computers, but i'll ask some people who do.
I havent got this thing sorted out enough to give you numbers that you can take to the bank. I spent some time sorting out the timing, and i'm moving onto the carb shortly.
I put a gauge on it when it was first fired up and i had 14" at the minimum but it was bouncing.
Can't complain about it, it idles at 900 in park, and 800 in gear, definetly has a rough idle, but i like it.
I like to goose it, but i've always driven pretty slowly, we'll have to wait for some track times.
This thing is really wild compaired to most of the stuff i've driven, its amazing seeing what i've built really come to life. I've built and fired quite a few engines (for a 19yr old), but to actually drive it, and knowing that it just gets better from hear, it's really cool.
JeffK Jul 6th, 04, 7:27 AM I can host your file. I have unmetered data transfer on my website. How do you want to get it to me?
Motor Martyr Jul 6th, 04, 5:35 PM i'll email it to you from my tcnj account.
is it alright to send such a large file over to you through email?

is it alright to send such a large file over to you through email? Not likely, most email servers limit the attachment size to 5 or 10 MB. You will have to FTP the file to him.
MadMarv Jul 6th, 04, 6:12 PM Also AIM-type instant messenger services allow file transfers of that size, its basically like easy-ftp.
That could be an option too.
Matt
Motor Martyr Jul 6th, 04, 6:15 PM might try that, even compressed the file is 63MB, whoa!
I might just make a video half the size, i thought it might be cool to have a long video rather then a short one.
my Aim is CamaroRacer1320
66chevyIISS Jul 6th, 04, 6:50 PM are you on windows XP? if so they make a pretty straight forward video editor called Movie Maker 2. You can compress the video to any size you desire on it.
JeffK Jul 6th, 04, 9:55 PM I created a temp email account with no limit on file size, not sure if you'll have a problem on your end though. Send it to video@72chevelle.com
I also signed up to AIM, my name is JeffK72chevelle
I have some editing software. I can try some things when I get it.
JeffK Jul 7th, 04, 7:09 AM Here is Brian's Video (http://www.72chevelle.com/camaroracer1320/pict0151.mov). I don't have software to compress or re-encode MOV files, so anyone feel free to try it.
-SS454- Jul 7th, 04, 7:27 AM Car sounds good. Nice to have the engine to go along with the awesome shape of the car. smile.gif I was hoping you would get on it a bit, would have loved to hear it scream a little.
Your friend or whatever didnt look like she put on a seat belt. Not good if thats the case.
As for the vid, if your on dial up, dont even consider getting it. But thanks to JeffK hosting it on a good server, where i pulled 380 k/sec straight, the broadband users can take a look. Thanks for sharing the ride. Now just gotta take us for a ride while ur at the track. Would be cool to see an incar of you getting waxed in a heads up race against Ed tongue.gif
Nice, 400 hours to download it and it says it is an unknown file type......OK, what application views it?
mr 4 speed Jul 7th, 04, 7:59 AM Didn't work for me either..
kjett Jul 7th, 04, 8:21 AM Need Quicktime to view it. Nice video Brian, the car sounds great. I must also add (as an "older" person) that I was impressed to see someone your age showing so much restraint behind the wheel of such a car. My first car ever was a 68' Camaro 4spd with 4.56 gears. As a father/son project me an my dad built a hot 355" engine for it. 12.5:1 TRW pop ups, Crane solid cam, heads ported/polished, etc... Not only did I have no respect for the car but the engine never ran right in the long term, likely because I was turning 7k with it on my first couple of road trips (no rev limiters back then other than your foot). Anyway, glad to see you have the car on the road. I can only imagine what your sense of accomplishment muct be smile.gif Keep us updated on your progress and first track visit graemlins/thumbsup.gif
OK, got it.
What?.....no stop signs in that neighborhood smile.gif
I noticed one of your neighbors had a 71/72 Olds Cutlass on the street. Looked like some competition for you ;)
Jim
Motor Martyr Jul 7th, 04, 5:37 PM thanks guys!
For the most part i've always been a slow driver.
I figured you guys would get a kick out of the video.
thanks again jeff for hosting it.
Jim, that guy is pretty cool, he gooses it a little everytime he passes my house when i'm working on the car outfront.
Ken,
thanks for the compliment!
worked for me. engine sounds good, nice car. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
yanniz Jul 7th, 04, 6:34 PM Ok, I watched the first part of it but I did not see the girlfriend, what's up with that Brian?
Seriously though, that sounds so cool and it looks really nice. You should be proud of all the work that you have done...can't wait to see the slips.
SS_Sean Jul 7th, 04, 6:41 PM Nice car. I enjoyed the ride. First early model camaro I've ever been in. :D
onebadd66 Jul 7th, 04, 7:42 PM Nice video Brian.Motor sounds strong. Those shocks your running are great.Didn't feel any of the bumps here :D graemlins/beers.gif Nice ride, can't wait to see it in person.........

shawn's69conv Jul 7th, 04, 9:51 PM Me and a buddy of mine made a movie for english class, starred my car and my brother in law's car. Hooked up the big screen projecter in the class room and enjoyed 3 minutes of cars. English teacher didnt get it though. The begining was going to be a lot cooler, accidently jumped my car going down a hill, but the camera man didnt tape it, oh well.
Heres a Link (http://www.shawnville.com/beowulf.htm)
Motor Martyr Jul 7th, 04, 9:53 PM thanks guys!
Notice the ear to ear smile, i'm still wearing it :D
Steve, the Koni shocks ride nicely, although i also switched back to rubber front bushings from poly as well. I like the rubber much better for the ride.
The 6 cylinder springs and no sway bar also changed the handling more towards how i like it.
onebadd66 Jul 7th, 04, 10:42 PM Brian, you didn't find the handling too spongy (side to side) w/o the sway bar.I take mine off to video and practice my launches at work. The drive home can get interesting.
Motor Martyr Jul 7th, 04, 10:54 PM doesnt bother me, that doesnt say that it wont bother other people.
But for me, i even like the way it handles.
do you have new bushings and ball joints in the front end?
knudsonm Jul 7th, 04, 11:01 PM now we need a vid of some gratuitous tire smoke.

Eric68 Jul 8th, 04, 4:11 PM Sounds good Brian . . . you are one heck of a responsible driver ;)
Didn't hear any squeaks, rattles, pops, etc either -- that's a good sign graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Ultraflows?
PS. next vid better have some tire smoke in it LOL
kazuaki Jul 8th, 04, 4:16 PM Well, this video has a small symbol (watermark) in the center of the picture because I used a demo version of the software to convert it. Besides that, the quality is good ant the file is 6MB instead of 67MB. If you have issues playing it, be sure you have the latest version of Windows Media Player from the Microsoft website.
Brian, you can leave it on my server as long as you like and just use this link whenever necessary.
If your connection is not the best or you plan to watch multiple times, please right click it and select 'Save as...' so you don't hit the server multiple times.

BillsCamino Jul 8th, 04, 4:17 PM I want to see the OTHER video...the one with your buddy ridin' shotgun and NOT Mom. :D
And hopefully, he's taller than the windshield wiper... ;)
Motor Martyr Jul 8th, 04, 6:03 PM Eric, thanks!
yeah, those are the ultraflo's, they sound pretty good. The exhaust system is 3" dumped before the axle, and i encorporated an H pipe.
Thanks Greg! That one is a lot easier for everyone to view.
Bill, lol. I'll have one of my tall friends video the next one.
mr 4 speed Jul 8th, 04, 7:28 PM Brian, what spring are you running in your 3310?
Motor Martyr Jul 8th, 04, 8:18 PM Stock during the video, but i switched them to yellow yesterday, and i like the yellow better, but none of that really matters until i do jetting/timing and other tuning loops at englishtown.
BTW so far it has roughly 14" of vacuum at idle, not bad maybe it'll improve a little though.
Tracy Focht Jul 8th, 04, 8:24 PM Looks and sounds great Brian...keep us posted!

Motor Martyr Jul 8th, 04, 9:37 PM thanks guys :D

In comparison, my 9.8:1 383 with 20° idle timing pulls 15" at around 750 rpm and 12" in gear at 600-650 rpm at 800 feet above sea level. That's with a 223/228 flat tappet hydraulic on a 110.
Motor Martyr Jul 8th, 04, 11:37 PM 900 in park. I havent checked it in gear.
