Looks like the pro touring / custom style cars are bringing good money this year.

People don't seem to care what the car started out as, as long as it looks hot, has a BIG motor and high quality ride parts!

I just watched an epsiode of the show "wrecks to riches." They guy built a pro touring '69 Camaro coupe with a 500 hp blown small block. A very nice, restored '69 SS 396 Camaro convertible went on the auction block before his car and sold for $25,000. Great deal for someone. The pro touring Camaro went for $52,000.

I noticed the same trend at the Kruse auction last labor day. In fact my next big project is going to be a Pro-Touring 71 Chevelle with an LS motor. I wouldn't Pro-Tour a car with any Doc's or an original SS car but a plain jane malibu with no Doc's or original motor is the perfect candidiate.

I saw last night a 40k miles 1970 ls6 brought 80k. The anouncer thought the car should have brought more then that?

Yea I saw that too, last year that car being a #'s matching would of brought 150 K.

the problem is that essentially anyone can buy a fully restored 1970 ls6 these days, they are literally all over, even documented ones. but every pro touring car is a little different, so you'll get something unique for your money. My 72 is an original ls5 SS, I don't have the paperwork but all the signs are there (boxed control arms, original SS dash, original cowl induction hood, etc. etc. all the little things, I know the past two owners, and the original blew the 402 and muncie drag racing). Unfortunately that makes it useless, my word is worth nothing, even though its not even debateable. So at that point I have no problem making it a pro-touring car.

Poison Dart, which is an AWESOME PT Dart, got murdered on the block. Sold for less than half build cost. Good news is that the buyer is probably gonna' drive it!

The convertible was a 68 Camaro. They don't seem to bring the same money as the 69's

Isn't that the episode where Barry White whined, acted like he was personally insulted, and took his toy home? So no buyer got the car - as I remember from last year when the show first aired. Or did he try and sell it again and still got skunked? Or am I remembering the wrong show???

EDIT: I just remembered - it was the "Gangreen" Nova episode where the reserve wasn't met and he acted kind of silly IMO...
