Hi guys,
Several of the members were kind enough to give me some contacts to find a properly dated 3139 Carb for my '66 396 325HP/manual trans. I cannot be certain about the build date - don't really know how to ascertain that however the block, heads and other parts are dated late Feb - early March 66. My search for the carb I would guess should be around these same dates at the latest or perhaps a bit earlier. Can any of you who have a similar setup 396 - 325 HP tell me how your engine casting, others parts alternator, starter etc compare with your 3139 Holley date? Also is there a rule of thumb for carb vs engine production/ assembly dates? I have seen some 3139's advertised complete or in pieces but so far they all date mid '65. HELP!
Thanks,
Doug

Engine build date stamped on the passenger side, front of the block on a machined surface just below the head ... and cars build date is on the cowl tag on the firewall. Stick to a carb dated two weeks to a month before your engines Tonawanda stamp and you should be fine

Doug,
I have one for my car that is dated 502 (second week of October, 1965) so I know they made some batches later than mid 65. This one is not original to my engine so it is not a good reference for how far before the engine date they should be, but I would follow Seb's advice. I'll check to see what dates I may have on some other parts carbs, but may not get around to it till this weekend.
