1ch9ev7el2le Jan 18th, 08, 11:57 AM :Dthanks richard i appreciate it i did like the rallys cuase thats what my brother had on his 67 camaro but 14's i bought the rallys from a place here in town they were repro. wheels so nothing special than i had a friend that had a 69 camaro he bought and it had the welds on it and i could not turn down the trade and i made sure they werent the defective ones that fall apart, dont want any wheels coming apart going 75 mph down the road..that would make me late for school and im never late for a single class....ha yeah right :D
How do you like the CPP rear lowering springs? I have the same ones but I haven't had my car on the road yet to see how they handle. How spongy is the front with the cut coils? My Elco has cut coils on front and they seem pretty soft. I'm thinking about going with circle track springs with adjusters to stiffen things up in front.
HHARDISTER Jan 18th, 08, 6:41 PM well I looked at getting some drop spindles, tubular A arms and QA-1 coil over shocks W/ 12 setting adjustment that will takes care of the front I think and i will check on the cpp rear springs and then get QA-1 adjustable shocks for the rear I think that setup will let me get as low as I want and get the stance I want and a stiff ride plus all of it works with my hotchkis sway bars
once I get it all on I will let you know how it rides and post some new pics
Thanks for the thought and the help let me know if anything else comes to mind
HHARDISTER Jan 18th, 08, 6:58 PM Hey all check out this car and web site of a ground up build it has a nice suspesion system I found looking around it is pretty cool !
http://camaromuscle.com/index10.html
rchevellea Jan 18th, 08, 7:43 PM hey richard the back springs ride pretty well i have no complaints what so ever. as far as the front goes they are pretty nice pretty smooth i mean its not a cadillac but its not like a sponge either. we have some pretty rough roads around town and it takes them all pretty well.
cuisinartvette Jan 19th, 08, 12:32 AM RCHEVELLA do you have a link where you got the rears? I want my El to sit exactly like that in the rear.
Used stock spindles and new SB coils (cut one coil out), hope that isnt bad for the ball joints. Everything is new.
Where is this rear adjustable shock everyone is talking about?
rchevellea Jan 21st, 08, 7:21 PM 67t56elky here is the link for the 3 inch springs the picture does not show the correct spring but i think its just a generic picture that they use for everyhting. hope this helps out..http://www.classicperform.com/Store/1964_1972_Chevelle_Elcamino/RCS6197S.htm
and heres the link to the page where you can order them from

I have a 67 with a small block and it is slammed, I used Global West tubular A-arms with the coil over adjustable shock, set as low as you want it to.

ftgallant Oct 1st, 08, 1:44 PM Call Mark from SC&C, he is the guru, I just finished my 66 with parts from him, I lowered my car inch and a half and I love the way it looks. Tell him what you want to do and he will help you. Plan on some time though on the phone with him. He can be reached at 610-346-8154, or www.scandc.com

pdq67 Nov 17th, 08, 6:45 PM I wish that I had installed roundy-round adjustable cans and cheap short h-d roundy-round coil springs in the front so that I could adjust them as needed and be done w/ it!

no doubt. that is what i did. i love it. it handles killer and is easily adjustable ride height. the ad says to spot weld the spacer once it is adjusted. i did not weld it. it has not moved yet. i went with a 550# front spring with 1.25 sway bar. it is pretty stiff, but handles great. i think i would go with the 500# spring if i were to do it again. then again for only about $45 for a set of springs, i can always change it.
Wally Nov 23rd, 08, 2:10 PM hey wally you got any pics of ur ride? what coil overs did you use?
Not any recent pics. I will say this, it's so low right now you need to lift it to get a jack under the front crossmember:yes::yes:
I'm using the QA1 adj. shocks, bought with the Global West kit.
Wally Nov 23rd, 08, 2:13 PM Just air bag it.

I some states air bags on the front are not legal.
The reason given has some merit, what happens when one of those bags takes a dump say in the middle of a hard turn:(:(:(

me too. kinda sucks when i wanna jack it. it is just enough that i can grab the bumper and yank it up on the jack.

It will dump to the ground. But let me ask you this...what about all those semi's that have air bag suspension? How often do you see/hear about them losing a bag? Or the big diesel pusher motorhomes...they have air bag suspension.
I do hear you...I keep an eye on my bags for any signs of cracking/aging and haven't found any...they are heavy duty rubber...not cheap stuff.
And technically, they are illegal everywhere...you can't go down the road hopping it all over the place...it's for show only.

I don't think they are illegal on the back, just the front and if you think about it the trucks use them on the rear and on the trailers, not the front axle. Same for the cars. GM put air ride on cars in the 50s:yes:
Oldsmobile had air ride all four corners. 56 I think was the year, damn thing would leak down overnite, come out in the AM and the bad boy would look like a LA low rider:beers::beers:
kalvinsays Apr 18th, 09, 12:46 AM cpp sells a kit for front and back tubular arms for $1000. The only promblem is the rear upper arms are made for a 10 bolt. I got the kit for my 66, but I had to grind the crap out of the rear upper arms to get them to articulate right on my 12 bolt. I use drop spindels and global west spring up front and have the look your looking for, but my car sits stink bug with the global west springs in the back. The car is definetly tight though and has very little body role
Chris R Apr 23rd, 09, 1:39 AM This is an old thread. Maybe I missed something but the poll doesnt seem to have anything to do with the posters questions.
rchevellea Apr 23rd, 09, 7:44 PM chris...no your right it does not have anything to do with getting a 67 low...i think the origianl poster was just wondering what years everyone else liked...

Chevy67 Apr 15th, 10, 3:49 PM I have a 67 that I put CPP 2" drop spindles on along with a set of Summit A body lowering springs. The rear Summit springs needed 3/4 of a coil cut off to get the right stance. KYB shocks are on all 4 corners along with Hotchkis sway bars front and rear. The ride is good, the handling great and the stance is killer (IMO).
Hotchkis Apr 15th, 10, 3:56 PM http://www.hotchkis.net/_uploaded_files/slideshows17slide_1_image.jpg
The Hotchkis TVS kit (http://www.hotchkis.net/tvs_system_w_extreme_sway_bars_6870_gm_abody_big_b lock_.html) lowers the vehicle an avg of 1" from original factory ride height
Scotch Jun 14th, 10, 10:12 AM QA1 has the single-adjustables that work great in the rear. I ran them fir the last 3 years and loved 'em...then I saw they had double-adjustables too, so you can adjust the compression and rebound independently. Well...that was just too cool for me to pass on, so I have the double-adjustables in there now. I do a lot of street driving in addition to working the car through the autocross cones, open road races, and road race courses. It will make some dragstrip passes too. Each of these tasks require different shock settings for best performance, and I have the ability to fine-tune for each scenario. Gotta love that- nice and soft on the street and stiffer at the track.
QA1 stuff is great, too.
