ok, so i know the normal break in procedure for a cam, about running the car between 1500 and 2500 rpm for like 20 mins. im about to build an engine and im pretty sure i know how to do everything but i wanted to buy a book just incase i got lost and to double check myself. during the "Break In" chapter all it said was "all you really have to do is drive the car for 500 miles then change the oil, then drive for 2000, not pushing the engine to max power, change the oil and retorque head bolts, then you can treat the engine as fully broken in"

whats up with that

The book is telling you how to break in a motor. That comes after you break in the cam. I guess the book didn't mention that detail. smile.gif

Many engines with STOCK cams with STOCK style valve springs are broken in that way. With performance parts, you definatley have to break the cam in properly.
