When I close my hood the back of the hood on the drivers side by the windshield sticks up about a 1/2 inch. I have to go over and push it down and then it looks ok. Any ideas on what may be the problem???? The rest of the hood closes and is lined up perfect except for this corner sticking up.

Its probably the hinge. It sounds crazy but try to raise the hood hinge adjustment a little and see if it helps.

Ditto, thats a classic sign of a bad rivet. Just do not bend or break it by pushing the hood down, I have had alot of people ask me to fix thier hinges, after they have bent or broken something in the hinge. What year is your Chevelle?

it is a 1971, is there any way I can test or check to see if that is the problem? I dont want to buy a new hinge if I dont have to:thumbsup:

Oil the rivets and see if you have a rivet trying to turn or back out of it's rivet hole. A rivet is only suppose to turn on it's shoulder, if it is turning or as some do, trying to pop out, then you have trouble.

For "some" adjustment you can shim between the hinge and hood on the FRONT of the hinge. This will actually lower the rear edge. A half inch is a lot though.

Like Willie said, try oil first. If it dry it's going to bind up really easy (I know from a bad experience I bend a hood by trying to close it on dry hinges). It's the final closing of the hinge that drops the rear of the hood down level with the fenders.
If the oil doesn't help and it was fine before and just started doing it, check the rivets.
