This past saturday while on my way to a car calub meeting ( nor-cal chevellelcamino) my motor took a turn for the worst.
About 3 months ago i had the motor (a 327) pulled and rebuilt by a local "engine guy". the motor is the original motor out of my 1966 el camino. it had been previousally bored over .030. the "engine guy" said it was a solid block nothing wrong with it and he would rebuild it. $2700 later the motor, $300 for head, $200 for a cam,on top of the motor, is all new and shinny and sounds great. we put it back in my el camino and i drive it around for about a week. i only drive it about 2 times a month. i notice smoke coming out of the motor and the oil pressure dropping and i let the "engine guy" know. he takes a looked at the motor and he decides to pull the whole thing, on his dime, and find out what wrong with it. he tells me the oil pump must have gone out and he was going to replace it.
while the motors out i have him put a cam in and heads. 480x i believe. i get the motor back and we install it, runs fine when we took it out for a test run, i get home the next day and decide to take it to work and low and behold it begins to smoke again, i let im know and take it to his house, come to find out the baffel on the valve cover was missing the the oil was just being puhed the the pcv valve and burning, we fix that problem and it runs fine for 2 more cruising days.
i have not driven my car for about 3 weeks and i take it out to go to my car club meeting, i fill her up at the gas station , get a few complimants and thumbs up. i cruise down highway 85 at 55 miles an hour, the temp guage reads 190 the oil pressure reads 65 psi. about 5 minutes of being on the freeway i noice smoke coming out of the back of the car and the temp on the car at 210, i pull over right away and pop the hood.
the engine is spewing out oil from the dip stick and breather on the valve cover. my first guess was a blown head gasket, ive never known a gasket to blow on a car with less than 100 miles on a fresh motor. i call the "engine guy" and he give me attitude and tells me he dosnt have time for me and to just get it towed to my how use and hell get to it when he can. really pissed me off.
now im sitting here at home trying to figure out what to do about the engine, i dont want to put any more money into it, he warrantied it for 3 years, and i dont know what to do about the guy if hes going to have a bad attitude about the situation.
i guess im asking for advice on what wrong with the motor and what to do about the "engine guy". any help would be great thanks
sorry its a long post.
