Just finished wiring up the first two bags of my new wiring harness AAW Higway 15 on my 65 Chevelle.

When I went to install my battery sparks flew when tryng to connect the cables. I have the negative battery grounded to the block and small ground to the radiator support. I am a novice and could use some help.

Could this be bad ground to the block or should I check the starter, alt or ignition wires. All wires in this kit are labeled so I am pretty sure it's wired correctly, but there' no information or wires supplied for grounding.

I should mention that the car was stripped of all wiring when I bought it so this is the first time a battery (or any harness) has been on the car.

thanks for your time.

I should add that I hooked the battery up earlier in the day and it was fine. I am wondering if the battery cable to starter may be touching something, as I did install the header after this. The kit also has a second wire on the same main terminal of the starter going to an inline "mega-fuse" for the ign switch.

Also hooked up the electric choke to an ACCY circuit on the fuse panel....but could this be drawing enough to cause sparks/arcing????

check the battery cable end at the starter for clearance to the header pipes.
