: spin tech mufflers?
70sixspeed Oct 23rd, 03, 12:37 AM Has anyone used the spin tech mufflers? I am looking for something that is fairly quiet at idle, where you can hear the motor, not the resonation from the exhaust. They seem to be fairly well built, and I have heard some good stuff about them, has anyone had any personal experience with them?
Texas70 Oct 23rd, 03, 10:30 AM Don't know about those, but have heard lots of recommendations for the Summit Turbo mufflers. Alot of these guys are buying these instead of the much more expensive Flowmasters. I have a set of 2 1/2" and will be installing them behind my new Summit headers which these guys also recommended (the Summit headers are the old Blackjack or Dynomax brand so I'm told). graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Matt Leuck Oct 23rd, 03, 10:44 AM 70sixspeed, You've got mail.
I sent you a clip of my car. I have 1-5/8" headers, Dr Gas X pipe (3" in 2.5" out) and Spintech Sportsman Streets (4x8x13)

kinzli Oct 23rd, 03, 12:11 PM I'm running Spintech's on my ride. I was running Flowmasters before and I'm glad those are gone.
I'm running Hooker 2" headers to 3" pipes (with an H-pipe), to Spintech 3" ProShootouts, and out the back via 3" tailpipes.
There's a sound clip on my website (see sig) that you can hear them if you want, and here's a vid also with some sound as well that will give you an idea of what they sound like...
Vid (thanks ACES841) of my car at the Fresno TC meet (http://www.employees.org/~jk/kinzli.wmv) ("Turn it up real loud, like Zeppelin")
AdamLym Oct 23rd, 03, 6:11 PM Jeff, that is the coolest video I've ever seen. What a bitchin' car!!!
kinzli Oct 23rd, 03, 7:14 PM Thanks Adam, that was a fun day smile.gif
DaleP Oct 25th, 03, 3:21 PM I'm running 402BBC-->Hooker Comp 2"x3"-->3x3" Dr. Gas X-Pipe-->Spintech 3"-->2.5" FlowMaster Mandrel bent tails .
I bought the X-Pipe and muffs used, so I don't know what model they are. I started with dumps and it was too loud for the SoCal freeway crawl, plus the neighbors didn't like the 5:00 AM startup too much. Put on the tails and it's really nice now. You know I'm coming, but I don't set off car alarms very often anymore. Also at 2700 rpms and up on the fwy, it has the most luscious howl. Like the wind through a pipe. I couldn't be more pleased. It's exactly the sound I wanted. They are loud without tails so get the longest muff you can fit and/or put tails on it.
I too had FlowMasters and hated them with a passion. There was that d*mn resonance that would drive you to road rage.
70sixspeed Oct 26th, 03, 7:14 PM Thanks for the info guys, the clips were sick!!! I ordered my dr gas x pipe and spin tech mufflers today! Thanks for the help!!
DaleP Oct 27th, 03, 8:18 PM For those of us over 17, "sick" means "cool, great, boss, neat, baaaad." It's a good thing.
