While the car goes in for a long awaited face lift,this gives me some time to ponder a new cam for my ride,when it comes back.I hear alot from all of you about UDHarold.Don't know if I want to go with a Solid this time around,or a roller.Decisions,Decisions :D
Here are some #'s
C/R 11.2:1 I'm using a .037 quench,so I do need something with a long
(240ish)@50 duration I believe to bleed off some comp.Deck height is .009 w/a .028 GM gasket.The AFR heads springs are rated @.550 lift.Open to all suggestions.

284/292F10 or 288/296F10
The 284/292 should work w/Al heads. But the DCR is a little high. You could go to a 112 LSA or bigger on the cam. My 276/284F10 idles at 12" 900rpm in a 383.
284 = 251@.050,.530 gross lift
288 = 255,.540
292 = 259,.551
296 = 263,.556 Lunati (http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/IEC/IECC/IECC.html)
The rollers are similar in adv. duration, but .556 or .582 lift.
Be careful with cam to rod clearance.
I had problems with a 276/284F10 standard base circle cam.

onebadd66,
I just finished installing one of Harolds custom solids in my brothers 383. It is a '72, Th350, 2500 stall and 3.55 gears.
The engine is a 10:1 383 with AFR 190's. Performer RPM and a 770 street avenger, Vac secondary.
The Cam specs:
Adv @.020 267/275
@.050 239/247
lift w 1.5 510/530
Lsa 110
ICL 106
This cam replaced a Comp NX274 hydraulic. The car ran 12.70's on motor 11.60's with 100hp jets on nitrous. Do not have performance data yet on the new cam. Will post as soon as I get times from him.
I can say this. The motor sounds and feels much stronger. It revs incredibly quick. The track will tell.Expect improvement of about 4 tenths.
This cam increased his DCR from 7.99 to 8.31. I had some concern about possible light throttle pinging. We are running 36 total timing with 18 base all in by 2800 with no evibence of detonation on 93 pump gas.
This was my first Lunati cam install. Have always run Comp stuff. I am quite pleased with the product thus far.

Thanx guys.Scott,that 292 is right were I am now with dur.which is were I'd like to stay do to the higher C/R of my motor.11.2:1.So I was told by Pat who help alot with the math.now the issue of the rods clearing got me thinking.What size rods did you have that gave you trouble?Do you think my 5.7 would be ok? Thanx again.
