Thought about doing something a little bit different for a 70 ElCamino that has a bed issue already. I have done a couple really nice wooden beds on old trucks i have restored/resto modded Thought maybe it would be a cool "Feature" to set this car apart from the crowd. Anyone done one in an ElCamino already??? Give me your opinions!!

I saw one at a show a few years ago and didn't really care for it. While it looks good on older trucks, it just didn't cut it on a newer one.

That sure would be a lot of wood. I'd have to agree with Animal69, as much as I like wooden beds in pick ups, it would seem out of place in an El Camino.

If the bed is really f ed up It wood be cheaper and easier to install would in the bed. LOL. I don't think it would be that bad. I would not do it.

I've seen one very nicely done before. I'm pretty sure it was on this site. It looked pretty neat. I wonder what the weight difference would be between steel and wood? Or how much weight wood, would add.

maybe if the wood is stained a darker color. it would look pretty cool. they had a episode of trucks where theres a company that makes a drop in wood floor for trucks, If you need to use the truck, you pop the back strip off, slide out the center support then the you lift out each side of the bed. jim

Open the link

http://www.horkeyswoodandparts.com/IntroPage.htm

click on Chevy on the far left side
then scroll down to Chevy Floor Replacement
and first click on Bedwood, then on Show deck

Looks fine but not my taste...

Cheers

I agree with the above, cool in old trucks, but not in Elkys.
