Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a steel cowl induction hood for a '66 Chevelle? Thanks.

If you care to drive to Dayton Ohio, you can save shipping costs, but try www.chevroletrestorationworld.com That's where I bought mine. I don't know if they make them for 66's but they will know.

I just got an email from someone at NPD telling me to call him for a quote. I'll have to see what he says on Monday.

Until then, I found a Goodmark hood at Summit for $449.

It's a large peice to ship. I had 4 hoods delivered to me (from summit racing) before I got one that wasn't smashed from shipping damage. Unfortunately the hood still didn't fit very good.

If I had to do it again, I would look local or even drive 100 miles to look at what your getting BEFORE you buy.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the info guys. I did a little research and ended up ordering a hood from this place:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-Chevelle-El-Camino-Steel-Cowl-Induction-Hood-2_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33646QQihZ023QQitemZ3 60013033280QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I know, I know, it's ebay! I called the number and talked with the business first and they're in Naperville, IL. The guy I talked with sounded alright. He said they sold 39 of these hoods last year with no comebacks or complaints. I figure, worst case scenario I can always drive up there if I have a problem with it. When it gets here I'll post some pics.

I almost forgot, $375 + $117 for shipping.

I got my hood last week. I'm very happy with it! The only problem is that when it was delivered it was pooring rain and I neglected to check the hood before I signed the shipping papers. As luck would have it, the rear driver side corner was bent a bit (you can see the bend in the picture), almost like the box was set down too hard on that corner. Goodmark doesn't put very much packing in the box so it's a miracle that's the only thing that was messed up.

Aside from that, the hood fits very well and I can open and close it with one hand - no need to wiggle it from side to side to get it to move!

Once the car is up and driving, I'll have to find a body shop to get the hood smoothed and painted.
