I am confused, I bought a kit for changing the TH400 to a TKO600. I haven't really started the project yet, but I am wondering where the stick will ultimately be, and where I get the interior parts to do it. Check out the thumbnails, both from the same vendor site, but definitely different stick positions and different console configurations. Which one is closest to the way a stock 4-speed is configured?

My car has a nice die cast bezel on top of the console with some brushed aluminum inlays in it. But it sure looks like the current one is specific to an automatic stirrup shift. Do I need to buy a new one to match where the 5-speed shifter will be, was there a 4-speed specific one? If so, where do I get it, a boot, and retainer ring?

Thanks for your help.

The first picture is of the 5speed tranny with the shifter is the furthest back position possible for the tranny. The top plate for the console is the automatic top plate with the shifter comming out where the horse shoe shifter would be.

The second picture is of the 5speed tranny with the shifter top plate turned 180 degrees so that the shifter it closer to the firewall. This position is supposed to be the closest to stock for the console.

if going from auto to manual and you want a the stock 4 speed look you're going to need to buy a new console top peice and some other items that i can show you if you want.

I put mine in the stock way, but after seeing where the shifter is in the first picture with the automatic console top peice i may flip my shifter plate back around how it came and use my old automatic top peice. I like that shifter location. Unfortunately i will have to change my floor patch. So we'll see

hope this helps
