I am helping a friend change his dash in his 1970 SS from lights to gauges which includes a tach and temperture gauge but the engine has been changed. The engine he has is a 350 fuel injected with electonic ignition that has it's own wiring harness that goes to the computer. He thinks the engine is from around 1995 to 1996. What I need to know is with no coil where do I hook the brown tach wire up to get the tach to work? It does not have an MSD box all the electronics are from the same time period as the engine.

If it is indeed 95-96, is it an LT-1 engine or is it of a TBI nature? Regardless it should have a coil. If it is newer (eg.LS-1) it will have several coils....would just have to go with Cyl. #1 Coil.....What style motor is he using?

Sorry I did not put that on here, it is an LT1. It has a coil on the lower front of the engine and what looks like a plate that goes across the front of the engine behind the water pump. Four plug wires plug into each side of this plate. I have never seen anything like this but the coil does not have any open terminals, all the wires have factory plug in terminals.
