Hey Guys,
I came across a swap meet mirror a few years back, and I just got around to mounting it on the car. The guy said it was for a Chevelle, but i couldnt find any numbers to prove it. Later, i took it a part and found that it had the incorrect part number for 71-72 original sport mirrors, but i figured what the hey....i'll mount it anyway.
Here are the pics:

Now get this....the number on the back glass of the mirror is LH 987202"8".
A correct part number for this is 987"8"202. My source for this is the Chevelle Restoration guide by Paul Herd. Notice that if the "8" was a few digits back, then it would be correct.
My question is this...
So do I have an incorrect mirror?
Do I have a correct mirror?
Does the Restoration guide have a typo?
Did GM stamp the number wrong?
Does this mirror look right?
Am I crazy for posting this?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks again...and keep on rockin!
