Hey guys. I have a fresh 406, small forged dish pistons. Heads are gm fast burn aluminum. Intake is gm vortec dual plane intake. Rockers are gm 1.5 self aligning rollers. Need cam help. Car is 70 camaro with 700r4 auto and 2800-3200 stahl with lock up. Rear gear is 3.73. Tires are 295/50-15. Headers will be 1.75 into 2.5 pipes with X-pipe. Mufflers are magnaflow. I also want to run a 150 shot so i would like a dual pattern and possibly a single plain. Power? You think i can hit the 350 to rear wheel mark without gas? With gas? I was figuring a hydraulic flat or roller. I also ran this combo in a 69 camaro with the iron vortecs and cheap summit cam in the .500 lift range and was very satisfied.

I would run a single plane if you are going to spray it, you can get away without a dual plane running a 406. You are on the right track with a 750 HP carb. Comp Cams XE294H it has a 519 523 250 256 @ 050. The rpm range is 2800-7000 so in a 406 it would be like 2500-6500. Hydraulic roller you could go with a XR294H it has 540 562 242 248 @ 050. The rpm range is lower 2800-6100 with a Hydraulic roller.

would this udharold dude be able to help? he seems in the business for a while. he seems to be the cam master. If he replies i would like a flat tappet hydraulic opinion and a roller hydraulic as well.

1 bad,
yes, UD Harold is a good resource,
and check out the combo in my sig,
N/A and 381 RWHP.
IMO, easy on the cam if you want it streetable, especially with a 700R4 "OD" with lockup.

On my last combo in the 69 it would get a hard bark when it changed to fourth and again when the converter locked. My buddies thought i made a 5 speed auto with shift kit. That was a small summit split duration cam. I liked that combo. It had a chinese pro products air gap intake.
