: Steering Column Bearing

The lower bearing in my 67 Chevelle floor shift steering column is shot. I tried Chevrolet and of course the part is discontinued. A salvage yard in town has a 67 and 68 Impala that I was told has the exact same bearing. Can anybody confirm this? Would $35.00 be too much to buy the complete column just to take the bearing out?

I received this info from a friend who owns a '66. iF 66/67 R not the same, I bet he has the 67 parts.

I believe the following numbers are for a '66:
The upper bearing is # 64-250187 $ 7.15
The lower bearing is # 64-5679205 $11.55

And Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the info Rick. I went ahead and purchased the column out of the 67 Impala today. The upper and lower bearings along with the turn signal switch are direct replacements for my Chevelle. I don't believe that the 66 bearings would work though. I wasn't able to find a part number on the lower bearing but the upper one differs from what you listed.
