: Summit shipping to Canada..info please
Mikeys69 Jan 9th, 08, 9:05 PM I'm looking to see if Summit uses a broker when they ship to Canada.
I called and ask Summit but the salesman didn't know...
Never used Summit before, only Jeg's...
I'm not interested in getting a broker to get my orders in to Canada..
Thanks...
northernforce Jan 9th, 08, 10:04 PM Whatever you do get it shipped via the post office-If you use UPS expect to pay an extra fee when it is delivered-they call it a brokerage fee-basically if you pay Summit 50 for shippping that is basicallly the fee to the border then UPS(aka crooks in brown)while expect you to come up with another $30-$50 before they hand over your package in Canada-just a suggestion-keep on cruising-dave.
LevonH Jan 9th, 08, 10:28 PM Ditto on the USPostal Service. Just a bit slower than UPS
I tell them that if they cannot ship that way, I'll go elsewhere.
There are other places to order from that ship USPS.. Depends on what you need.
Mikeys69 Jan 9th, 08, 11:35 PM Thats for the advice guys.
I have bought from OPGI many times (5-6) via UPS..and I only paid once and that was to OPGI.
I have bought only once from Jegs and that was via FedEx..no extra charges.
But never bought from Summit though. They had the diff I like plus the gears I'm looking for. Jegs sucks for diffs..Auburn and Moroso only. The Moroso is a good diff. just more money than a Eaton.
Here is a sad story.
I bought from a company called. Tamraz's Parts Discount Warehouse on E-Bay. What a H*ll of a time I had with these guys. I ordered left and right front fenders. I had to get a Broker..a one time fee of $100.00 plus $282.00 for broker fees on top of the $100.00. $382.00 just for fees plus GST plus the cost of the fenders....Never again...
Of coarse they didn't tell me it was going to be like that.
Thanks for the help guys...
floyd66 Jan 9th, 08, 11:48 PM If you live anywhere near a border town....find a business on the US side that accepts parcels. Near the Vancouver area there are at least 10 in Washington State. Typically you pay $3-5 per parcel and have three to 5 weeks to pick it up, longer if negotiated.
Make up your shopping list, order everything at once and wait for it to arrive. Pick it up and import it yourself, you only pay GST + PST. No other fees. Worth the trip?
Caution, you must have a receipt or invoice for everything. Don't expect it to be in the package. If it is not there, your screwed. It's easy and saves a boatloat in US shipping prices too.
Mikeys69 Jan 10th, 08, 1:01 AM Thank you for the advice.
Here is were I live.
See in the map - Alberta and then were Edmonton is?
I live in Grande Praire. About a 5 hour drive north of Edmonton.

OutCast Jan 10th, 08, 2:29 AM Hey Mike,
Don't know if you are aware or not, but MOPAC supply http://www.mopacautosupply.com/main.html has really good deals on alot of speed and performance parts. They are in Vancouver BC, and they will ship to you no problem.
Just a thought.
So how much would it be say if you had the package delivered stateside to some one (Summit is free +10.95 handling) and then they mailed it to you? Would that be cheaper? Would that be considered smuggling? :)
BTW Summit uses both UPS and FEDEX. Maybe you could request FEDEX?
Dan Orgill Jan 10th, 08, 6:16 AM JWA, unfortunately there will be fees with FedEx as well...no getting around them:(. I've always used USPS with Summit and they've always been prompt and on time.
Rod Jan 10th, 08, 10:56 AM There is a Mopac in Edmonton as well.
I have stuff shipped to a US address and then make a trip or have them reship it for me and save the broker fees. I agree with the rest, USPS is the best option but on a heavy item it may be cheaper to go and get it or order local.
blumont Jan 10th, 08, 11:58 AM Check local distributors also.(Mopac / Best Buy) The pricing has come more in line and you can save the hassles of shipping along with the extra costs. Definitely USPS if you decide to have it shipped. That brokerage fee with UPS is a killer.

Hey Jery did you get my email with pictures ?? sent to Johnson ....
Mikeys69 Jan 11th, 08, 8:57 AM Thanks for all the advice guys.
As for company's like MOPAC supply...Unless I was to walk into there store.
I don't think I would buy from them.
There sites are very cheaply done. I have two sites of my own. I pay $14.00 dollars a month for them.
And they are better than what MOPAC supply can put up.
MOPAC supply has no prices, no shopping carts..nothing..
I'm not bashing them. I'm just pointing out, they aren't what you call a Internet friendly company.
Sure they have links to suppliers, but so what..I have Google...lol
Please just show me one good Canadian supplier that is setup for online shopping...
Over this winter so far I have spent over $10,000 on parts. And
not one dime went to a Canadian supplier...Other than my tires which I bought local.
PS..Yesterday I ordered a Diff (Eaton 12 bolt), 3.73 Ring/Pinon, and a install kit from Summit...
We will see how it goes and I will post it here.

LevonH Jan 11th, 08, 9:10 AM I buy a fair amount from MOPAC. They are pretty good with shipping and they have some pretty knowledgeable folks; especially in Calgary.

Can you compare shop?
Do they have most parts in stock?
Do they drop ship it to you?

They are nice friendly folks and i spend thousands of bucks a year there but if the parts aren't in stock - i order them direct from the USA as i have had issues in the past with parts taking weeks or longer if they need to get them in. I don't have weeks to wait...
LevonH Jan 12th, 08, 10:52 AM I just find it convenient to order from them, not have the UPS hassles and still have things delivered to my door. Special order stuff is always a pain regardless of where it comes from.
I buy special stuff from others (Wolfplace, Straub...) but the conventional stuff is from Mopac.
