And to top it off its a pontiac motor, on "street tires" through the exaust. I think its cool...you dont see alot of pontiacs that run like that.
300hp Nov 20th, 04, 9:27 PM its pretty nice. my cousins all motor full weight full interior, '72 lemanns runs 10.90s with a pump gas 474.
onovakind67 Nov 21st, 04, 9:04 AM Jim Hand's 4100# low 11-second wagon is a good example of going very quick without a lot of super speed parts:

mr 4 speed Nov 21st, 04, 9:07 AM Jim Hand is the man..lots of great advice and experience to boot.Jim's car might be slower than that Firebird, but I'm more impressed (and always have been) of Jim's accomplishments with his ride
..if you scroll down to the Monte SS on the

kjett Nov 21st, 04, 9:21 AM Nice car, but I'm not impressed. Heck, Todd G. is doing better than that with less tire, likely the same weight and a 100 less cubes!
10secBu Nov 21st, 04, 12:41 PM Thanks Ken, but he has a clear weight advantage with mine sitting right at 3600 lbs w/driver (compared to his 3470 w/driver).
Cameano Nov 21st, 04, 1:00 PM I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild on the '69 Firebird in my sig. Got the car from my buddy, after helping him build it for a couple of years. The 455 was bought from a guy last year, fresh from the machine shop, all kinda goodies in it. Lasted less than 1k miles, though. Forged pistons severely scuffed on the skirts, rod and mains need to go .020, cam bearings shot, cam flat on a couple of lobes. Found the oil pump driven gear upside down when I pulled it out. On the upside, it's getting fresh KB flat tops, a RA III cam, HS roller rockers, and little bit of porting on the 5c4 heads. Should be fun when it's done. I pick up the shortblock tomorrow. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

My point was that while that's a nice looking ride, the performance seems dismal to me given the big cubes. As for the street tires, well most anybody could hook on tires that wide. Still a nice ride, and no slam meant against the person posting the topic or the owner of that car.
Nickel333 Nov 21st, 04, 2:14 PM I just posted because it was a Pontiac motor, 505ci or not,you dont see poncho motors that run like that on pump gas. And truth be known Poncho motors arent known for cheap/easy/reliable performance like our chevy's. I thought it was cool, but im also a pontiac fan at the core....
67 GTO Nov 21st, 04, 5:14 PM Considering that he's using an Indian Adventures (IA) block, I'm kinda dissapointed. Almost seems kinda pointless. Hell, I'd expect more from a Camaro with a 500+ inch Merlin in it too.
Harold Sutton Nov 23rd, 04, 2:25 AM There is a friend of mine who's son runs a 400 pontiac motor in a slightly over 3000 lb. '68 Firebird. and has been going high 10.20s at 128-130 MPH on slicks. I hadn't seen one with that much power before and it seems to be holding up pretty well.
