Has anyone used this idea to convert to a roller cam/lifter set up? Found it on ebay

Looks like it would work.

If the best he can do is a batch of testamonials that are unsigned, and with no way to verify them...I'd say you could do this yourself without his $20 "help".
Find a friendly machine shop that has a roller cam block. Take some measurements of lifter bore height, and verify the oil hole in the bores is in about the same place as on your block.
Seems to me the biggest problem is to get the tops of the lifter bores both flat and the right height so the dogbone retainers are positioned correctly. Next up is clearancing the valley--and maybe the dogbones themselves, as needed. Bolting down the spider can't be very hard--drill 'n' tap 3 holes, Loctite the studs in to prevent any kind of leak, figure out spacer length if needed, and toss on some nuts.
GMPP makes a kit with 16 lifters, 8 dogbones and a spider. Get pushrods the right length, and a cam kit from your favorite supplier. Done.
If it makes any difference, I've bought the parts to do this to a big block. Wish me luck.

Robb,
it will work with the SB. Just be careful with the base circle of the cam with higher lift cams so the lifters don't fall below the dogbone and catch on the way back up. This is a bigger concern with the Gen VI Big Blocks using higher lift cams with stock lifter/dogbone/retainer setups.
Schurkey, this has been attempted many times on the Big Block and no one I know of has been able to get it to work. Not saying you can't, but just be careful.

Good thing I bought the parts cheap...
Can you 'splain what the problem is on the BB?
