Its time to decide what to do. I have an intake leak on the old cast iron 4 barrel.

Im thinking for replacing it with the performer from edel. But of corse there is no place for my old school divorced choke on the Q-jet.
So im forced to go electric if I change manifolds.

1. Does the electric choke work as good as the divorced choke?

2. Up here it gets 30-40 below zero, and it doesnt like to run with the divorced choke will it run with the electric?

3. Will the Al. intake heat up faster, thus giving me better winter drivability?

4. Hows the tuning with the electric choke? Hows the installation, just looking at all the linkage makes me scared.

I run a divorced choke on my Performer with Qjet. You just need to order the divorced choke kit. Go to Edelbrock's web site and search for it.

The electric chokes work just as well as the divorced chokes. They are a little more tuneable. I like to set mine so that they come off within 2 miles. With an electric I can hit the correct adjustment with just a few morning drives into work.

electric chokes are not as good as heat operated chokes. once they are open, they are open- and they open too early. then, if you shut the thing off when it's fully warmed up and restart it, the electric chopke will be closed again, causing a 2000 rpm idle.. pain in the ass in a driver in cooler weather.
a heat operated choke, however, is not so finicky.
if it's a daily driver type vehicle, i'd get the Performer and hook up the oem heat operated choke linkage with the adapter that comes with the intake.

It comes with the intake?? Ill have to grab an edel book at work. I work at AutoZone so I have cheap access to parts. NOW im gonna do it for sure thanks guys!!!!!!!
