I need to help on this. I installed an Edelbrock accu-drive gear set. Edelbrock support said the long shaft on the idler gear goes next to the block. The instuctions show it facing the timing cover. So which is it. I did it the way support said. graemlins/clonk.gif

I would call edelbrock and point out that discrepancy so they can get it fixed before I order mine :D

Im looking at the instructions for a Pete Jackson, but I believe they're the same...the idler gear with the long shaft (The larger gear) goes on the left as you're looking at the front of the engine, and the long part of the shaft goes towards the block...so their instructions must be wrong!!

You are correct. I installed mine about a month ago. Call edelbrock, and let them know about the mistake on the instruction sheet.

I found some instructions on the web very similiar to what mine look like. Is this just for measureing purposes only?
Take a look.

bad rat,
the long end of the shaft goes towards the block(on the left side if your facing the front of the motor) you may have to ground down on the block if your using a alluminum cover, cover and cam button is what stabilizes everything.and please dont forget the thrust washer.
i put one on cause i cant afford a blower yet!!!

Thanks, ovelle. That's the way I did it. I just want someone to confirm it.
