Anyone know where I can have an original Delco AM Radio model 7303131 refurbished? I have a 1968 SS and the radio works, but I have to be on top of the transmitting tower of any of the stations. Looking for a place in the Trenton NJ area, or anywhere for that matter. Thanks.

Before you get too far into this, try another antenna and see if your radio comes back to good performance.

OK, can anyone help me with an antenna problem? I bought a cheap antenna, plugged it in the radio and stuck the mast out the window and got better, but not great reception.
Apparently, my rear mounted antenna has some sort of capacitor in the extension that cannot be tested without special equipment. I've asked Crutchfield about this, but haven't gotten a response yet. Any ideas?
Thanks.

The long antenna lead going to the back does kill reception on weak signals. Behind one of the knobs on the front of the radio, is a little screw that you can get at with a screw driver. Try adjusting that. I think it is called a trim adjustment. Haven't looked at one of these in years.

The trim adjustment screw is located behind the right hand knob. Stick a small screwdriver in and tweak it slightly left and right to bring the stations in better.

The capacitor in the line to the rear antenna is likely a shunt cap to bleed off the RF in the coax. A lead that long is a huge antenna and they need to do something to keep the engine noise out. The antenna trimmer on the radio is a cap as well and is for tuning the radio to the antenna.
Good luck

Thanks, all. But, I tried the trimmer screw to get the best reception on the highest number on the dial....1400...actually about 1210 which is a station in my neigborhood. It's the only station I can get. Can't get anything beyond that....like out of NY city with 50,000 watt transmitting.
Anything else you can think of?
