My 408 SB is up and running but it has like 50 degrees of advance. It is also only pulling like 7" of vacuum. I put the cam in straight up. Dot to dot. It is a custom UD/Lunati Hyd roller with 4 degrees advance ground in. I did not degree it.

I set up the MSD so it would have 38 degrees total with maybe 10 more vacuum. I folled the same set up as my BB on setting the advance rate with the bushings and springs per MSD.

Is the cam off? Timing marks?

It runs and idles down nice. But not real snappy. The engine doesn't act like it is binding up under start when advanced further.

Why not much more vacuum? It is not that big of a hyd roller .530. 10:1 408.

cam timing has no effect on ignition timing at all.

are you unplugging the vacuum advance when checking the timing?
