What valve springs are you guys running that have modified Vortec heads.

What OD, Installed Height, and are you running a damper spring?

Doug,
A lot of the circle track guys are using the Vortec heads. They use any of the "generic" Z-28 or other stock diameter small block replacement springs. Depends on the camshaft too.
Will be talking to you shortly about a Commander 950 System.

I'm having a set of Comp 981-16 springs installed on a recently purchased pair of -906 vortecs. I believe they install at 1.700"...for a mild hyd. flat tappet project.
I've also used GMs LT4 springs from the "Hot Cam" kit on a previous project.

Doug,
The Z28 type spring & other variations of the 1.250" spring will work but you have to cut the bottom of the guide boss down as it is to big in diameter on most of the heads for the damper.
You also need to cut the guides in length for anything over about .460" with stock length valves.
Another quality 1.25" spring is the Isky 235D to .550" lift

I'm running GM LT-4 springs.
Good to .525 lift
Plus they are a single spring with no damper that set right down in the spring pocket and cleared the spring towers with no machining to the heads

Locator O.D.: 1.32"
Inst. Height: 101# @ 1.78"
Lift Range: 1.22"
Material: 12495492

Thanks, I should have been more specific. I dropped of a set at the machine shop without measuring a thing and told them to "allow the use of more lift, etc". They cut the guide boss down but didn't reduce the diameter of the bottom boss so you can't run a 1.26 spring with a damper.

Do the "Z28" springs have a damper? Sorry for the dumb question.. I know everyone sells them, but haven't used them myself.

Doug,
All of the "Z-28" springs that I have seen have the damper.

The LT4 springs do not have a damper.
