What is the actual difference in a BB and SB P/S pump? How can one of the other be ID? I just took one off a 69 parts car and has the original metal cap still on it.

The big block pump will have the return line coming out the bottom. Pic sent via E-Mail

Auto Zone sells a nice replacement (correct appearance) for the 69 Big Block ps pump. You can look up the part number at their website. Cost is approximately $65.

Darn, so I didn't need to go through all that trouble to convert a SB pump over???

The auto store replacement has the line in about the same place as small block. Would I be wrong in assuming the small block pump will work but not be correct.

The problem lies in the brackets. You cannot use the 69 BB brackets unless the line is out of the bottom.

Thanx Guys

Correct, that is why I used a small block pump and moved it to the bottom.
Hey Woj, does the Auto Zone pump have it out the bottom???

The one on the website does not show it to be that way.

Mike,

The pump Auto Zone sells looks just like the original with the return line out of the bottom.

Here is a link to the Auto Zone website for this pump. If the link doesn't work, it is ATSCO #6151. http://www.autozone.com/N,14600160//shopping/partTypeResultSet.htm

The company makes the reservoir and it is a very nice match to the original for a very reasonable price.

I have already purchased one of these but have not yet installed it in my project.

Hope this info helps.

Woj.
