A friend of mine is doing a ground up resto on his 64 SS chevelle and is looking for a manual transmission to use in his car. He has a 489 CI BBC which is putting out around 600 HP and around 550 ft lbs of torque. His car had a muncie 4 speed in it but he wants to upgrade to a 5 speed. Which transmissions have you guys used behind this kind of horse power and torque big block. He is also running a Fab 9 9" rear with 4:10 gears and 26 inch tires. The car will be used on the street mainly but will be run a few times down the strip just to see what it will do.

Thanks

Rick

Tko 600 will handle that engine with no problems. It's a very nice trans for street/strip/road course. anything you want it to do, it will do it.

I know I have a SB but I also have tons of torque & beat the crap out of this tranny regularly.
