Now that I have the timing issue under control I'm wondering what I can do with my carb. I have 4 corner idle screws and 71 primary jets and 76 in the secondaries. What other areas of the carb should I consider for improving my idle considering my timing is correct. I have about 10 vacuum at idle with the guage hooked up to the manifold connector on the carb so i need to up my power valve since it is a 3.5. I also plan on trying running my vacuum advance from the manifold fitting below the throttle plates. I hope this will improve my idle it sucks ported. Any thoughts

Well, what exactly is wrong with your idle? Some things to check: Does the motor want to die if you turn your idle screws in all the way? See if your fuel bowl levels are dumping out with the screw out and if not does it dribble if you shake the car a little? You should have about .040 gap between the the plate and the slot in the venture on the primary side. The secondaries plates and slot should just peeking when closed. What size squirter? Are you having any backfiring or popping thru the carb? Doesthe car stumble at all? Good Luck!

no backfire just the car idles fast and won't come down low. I am suspecting timing but have considered the carb may not be correct. I set the four corner idle to a vacuum guage. 71 primary and 76 secondaries. the rest I don't know.

I'm running stock squiter. The plates have not been drilled. The idle issue has been resolved by changing my timing curve and resetting the timing. Now the stupid thing will disel every once in awhile at shutdown.

If you're using the 292 cam in your sig, you may need to drill the plates. Sure helped for both the 294 and 296 cams I've used.
