Pvt.Cowboy Aug 27th, 04, 10:55 PM I've gotta admit that I'm liking it a lot more.
-SS454- Aug 27th, 04, 10:58 PM There was a thread about the car a bit already, though a lot more pics here, including the engine pic. The rims and fat tires look great. But that exhaust is tacky.
LXS Aug 27th, 04, 10:59 PM DAMN THAT LS2 LOOKS TIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not too big of a fan on how the hood looks, but it can grow on me tongue.gif I believe it's either Hot Rod or Car Craft that is having a contest to see which one of the big car designers comes out with the best looking GTO. I have the mag in my car, so I'm not sure which designer/artist it is, but my favorite is the one who made drew it up and put "The Judge" badges on the side fenders and gauges on the driver's side hood. I'm gonna go to both mag sites to figure out which one it is, and if I have time, I'll put the link to the pics.
LXS Aug 27th, 04, 11:29 PM http://gto.hotrod.com/ That's the link to vote for the best GTO. The GTO that I'm talking about is the first one, drawn by Steve Stanford. It's hard to tell from that pic, but if you look at it in the HOT ROD mag, it looks much better, and you can see the gauges and "The Judge" badges much better.
baddbob71 Aug 27th, 04, 11:30 PM The exhaust is a Pontiac thing and IMO puts just a little history behind the GTO lettering. Now where did the Camaro go? Ford has their act together with the new Mustang design, sure wish Chevrolet would open their eyes. Monte SS, haha
79943 Aug 28th, 04, 12:05 AM i remain horribly disappointed with the new GTO styling. i think GM had an opportunity here to do something really special and they just flat blew it. the design should have been modern but very subtlely reminiscent of a first generation goat. not pure euro styling which is how they went. it just doesnt work for me. i'm sure mechanically it is an excellent machine but it still looks like a nondescript, cookie cutter, version of the thousands of boring cars you pass on the xpressway every day.
ZZ69chevelle Aug 28th, 04, 2:00 AM It won't make everyone happy, but what car does? I like it. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
cody Aug 28th, 04, 3:17 AM much better, so is that the real car that is coming out? also those are the same rims i have on my car, but mine are polished, wonder where they got them, althought the back ones are obvioulsy wider, but i stupidliy didn't minitub!
GRN69CHV Aug 28th, 04, 6:47 AM A step in the right direction, but I don't like the body. Not so much the body lines, they are uninspriring, as it is the low line of the rear fenderwells in relation to the height of the rear quarter panels. I think the rear wheelwell needs to be radiused about 1" on the complete circumference and produced with a slight fender bulge to produce a more traditional muscle car look. Unforetunately, the wrap around rear bumber makes this a difficult mod without a special production run of the urethane bumper, otherwise this would be an easy mod. The flat quarter panel has bothered me since I forst saw this car. I have seen plenty on the road and immediately thought the same thing. Reminds me of the last generation Monte Carlo body. Take the V8 out, drop in a 6 banger, cloth interior and dump them into the rental fleets.
70BB Aug 28th, 04, 7:09 AM I'm not a Ford guy,but they did a great job adding the early mustang look to the new one(modern with a hint of nostalgia)Too bad Pontiac did'nt apply the same principal here.Just my opinion.
LS6Camino Aug 28th, 04, 7:44 AM ya think...
I saw a few on the road and they looked quite ... how can i put it ; Ewwww

LeoP Aug 28th, 04, 12:34 PM Yep, the hood scoops look right out of the Mustang drawing board.
